Understanding the family pets nature and habits will give you important clues in locating the source of the problem.

Female pets tend to prefer open areas of the corners of a room. Males thend to urinate the perimeter of the room saturating vertical surfaces like the legs of furniture, walls, woodwork, doorframes and draperies.

Pets that have not been neutered will actively mark their territories, piddling or spraying a little bit here and a little bit there. Neutered and spayed animals traditionally are only concerned about elimination. Consequently, they will tend to confine their contamination to open areas.

Cat odor situations are more challenging because of the mobility factor. Cats can cause problems on top of draperies, high decorative shelves and in tight spaces where a dog cannot fit.

Can you Smell it?

One day a Co-worker asked me to go feed her animals while she went out of town- honestly, my partner and I walked in her home and got sick, it was the most horrifying thing in the world. If your house is smelling like dog, you need to find the reason…your dog could be ill and needs a vet  or simply your male dog might feel the need to mark his territory. Don’t get use to the smell of dog (or cat); our four legged friends are here to keep us company and bring us joy, I’m sure they don’t want to become a problem for you.

Let’s use the Small dog example, let says our little friend got sick and we didn’t notice his condition for the last couple of days, he had 3 different accidents because we were not at home to help and fortunately enough he used the same corner.

Small Dog: 2 oz. per deposit X 2 days X  3 accidents per day  = 12 oz. total deposit.

We need to remember that what we can see on top of the Carpet is only the tip of the iceberg, and what it seems to be a small ring on the surface, it is a much bigger below.  and as we can see on the sample 12 oz. total deposit on a two day period  is a lot and could be worst if not detected at all.
